Would: A House Out of Town
New York City is havoc. It’s brain is full of noise, and it’s disgusted me for several years now. Its subways, with their turgid, stinking platforms and black-mucus encrusted steps leading up to pot-holed, smog stained streets. It’s sidewalks, dotted with millions of grey, decades-old, chewing-gum stars. The entryways to it’s decaying walk-ups occasionally marked with red smears of...

Papa Was A Rodeo
When I was 11 years old, my father and I couldn’t have been more different. It was 1987 and my dad was a good old boy from Texas who wore trucker hats and tight Wrangler jeans. He was a fiber-optic technician who drove around the deep South in a huge tan RV, a loner following the beat of his own drum. I was wearing Vision Streetwear zebra-print high-tops, sporting a Nazi-youth/skater...

Not Leaving
The weekend after 9-11 I worked at a French Bistro in lower Manhattan. On the 12th, I had called to check in on my friends and coworkers. I expected to find out that the restaurant, like almost every other business below 14th Street, would be indefinitely closed. Instead I was asked to work several 18-hour double shifts. The café was owned by a group of Israeli business partners who all took the...

Bad Kid Fundraising
Hey ghouls, If you can find it somewhere in your cold, black heart… I still need more dough for Bad Kid. Mascara and ankh’s aren’t cheap. Seriously. http://www.rockethub.com/projects/3051-bad-kid-the-show

Bad Kid fundraising site launch
Today we launched the fund-raising site for my show BAD KID, which opens October 28th. Axis Theatre is generously paying for the majority of the production, but there’s still stuff to pay for: additional production costs, travel costs for my director, fees for press materials, a stage manager, etc. NO donation is too small. Even 5 bucks will mean the world to Bad Kid. No kidding. (I was a...

Dark Thing #9
thedarkthings: Our dark souls need no more nourishment than they need light. Blackened hearts that pump no blood and flesh that withers in the sun. Our food is the fruit of longing and despair, hanging low on the… Wait… What? WHAT?! THEY HAVE MINI-BURGERS TODAY?!

Look. Do I need a hardhat or not? Jesus Christ!
I’ve never been one of those crazy, conservative, Tea Partying, immigration fanatics. That being said, I do think that English should be a language well-grasped by anyone writing warning signs on construction sites.

Crabby Til I Get My Coffee...
But it MUST be ICED because… It’s a million degrees in NYC and wearing shorts ain’t helping. I just lost a layer of leg skin getting up from a sticky subway seat. I’ve seen enough weird “bra-area sweat” seeping through ladies shirts to blind a man. It’s too darn hot. Let’s cut to the chase. Because we both know what’s going on here....

Tumblr Help
Can someone explain to me how to re-blog and like posts on certain types of pages? On many pages I follow, I cannot find a “like” or re-blog functionality. On this page for example: http://mydaguerreotypeboyfriend.tumblr.com/ Or this one: http://buschkamps.tumblr.com/ Or here: http://sv.tumblr.com/ What am I missing? I don’t see that functionality anywhere. Any help would...

This is my nephew Carl. This video of Carl taken by his father highlights a very specific conundrum. See, Carl is hungry AND tired at the same time. What can he do but stumble wearily and messily through both desires? It’s sad really. He’s too sleepy to eat in a way that properly satiates his hunger. And he’s too hungry to rest in a way that qualifies as “sleep.” So...

Our Ordinariness
“We are going to die, and that makes us the lucky ones. Most people are never going to die because they are never going to be born. The potential people who could have been here in my place but who will in fact never see the light of day outnumber the sand grains of Arabia. Certainly those unborn ghosts include greater poets than Keats, scientists greater than Newton. In the teeth of these...

My whole body hangs off these cheekbones.
I have decided to start looking for more silver linings in life. I keep saying that I’m going to do this, but today I’m officially beginning. Crohn’s Disease has been a persistent gray cloud over my life for about a year now. So I thought it would be a great starter for this whole “glass is half full” approach to life. The “silver lining” and only decent...
